Black is Beautiful Breweries Collaborative Fundraiser

Black Is Beautiful Virtual Tasting

Wednesday, July 29th, 2020

For our July Virtual Event, Barley’s Angels Chicago and our friends in Barley’s Angels UP will be tasting Black is Beautiful stouts.
Black is Beautiful is a nation-wide initiative among breweries in collaboration with Weathered Souls Brewing in Texas to brew variants of a core stout recipe and donate the proceeds to worthy causes fighting injustice.

Many Chicago breweries are participating, so go out and buy a variant (or two or more!) and join us for a video call on Wednesday, July 29 at 6pm to taste, compare beers, and share in the ways we as beer consumers and humans can impact our communities and lift up BIPOC.

This event is free to attend! All you have to do is buy a packaged Black Is Beautiful beer and register for the video call via eventbrite

29 breweries in Illinois are releasing Black Is Beautiful: here’s the full list

Participating breweries are asked to:

  • Donate 100% of the beer’s proceeds to local foundations that support police brutality reform and legal defenses for those who have been wronged
  • Choose their own entity to donate to local organizations that support equality and inclusion Commit to the long-term work of equality

What’s Your Function (Fn)?

Barley's Angels Toronto

According to PC Magazine online, the definition of Function (Fn) goes like this:

“(FuNction key) A keyboard modifier key that works like a Shift key to activate a second function on a dual-purpose key.”

But for our purposes the definition of Function (Fn) goes like this (from the Fn Bar website):

“By taking a modern approach to cooking, we’ve invented a new style of cuisine powered by the foods we loved growing up. Paired with local and imported craft beers, creative cocktails and hand selected renowned wines, Function offers something for everyone.”

Now that we’ve cleared that up…

Come join the Barley’s Angles for after work beverages at Fn Bar on FRIDAY (finally a Friday!), November 15th!

 The basics:

  • Address:  2291 Yonge Street (Yonge & Eglinton)
  • Time: 6:00pm +

As always, this is a women’s only event, but the lads can join in on the action after 9pm.

 See you there!

Barleys Angels Toronto @ Saulter St. Brewery, October 15th

Saulter Street BreweryBarley’s Angel: Stop me if you’ve heard this one… Three vampires walk into a bar…

Another Barley’s Angel: Which bar?

BA: It doesn’t matter. So, three vampires walk into a bar…

ABA: Which bar?

BA: Any bar, it doesn’t matter. SO, these three vampires …

ABA: Sorry, but it would be easier for me to get into the story if I knew which bar.

BA: . . .

ABA: . . .

BA: Okay fine. Saulter Street Brewery. ANYWAY, so these vampires…

ABA: Hang on, Saulter Street?  What’s today’s date?

BA: The date?  …It’s Monday, October 15th. Okay! So about these vampires, the first one says…

BA:

ABA:

ABA: We’re late!

BA: Not if we run!

*And so they did! They take off running to Saulter Street Brewery’s onsite tap room to have an amazing time with all the Barley’s Angels and their friends, where they will enjoy a fine array of small-batch beers on tap in the charming Riverside neighbourhood.*

All this to say…
Join the Barley’s Angels at Saulter Street Brewery on Monday, October 15th @ 6:00 pm.

Address…

31 Saulter Street (just a smidge south of Queen St. East, and a smidge north of Eastern Ave.

Just one more small thing…

This is a women’s only event. Ordinarily, the lads can join us after 9 pm, but this busy working brewery closes at 9, so see you next time, gents!

And just in case you’re interested…

Three vampires walk into a bar. The first one says, “I’ll have a pint of blood.”
The second one says, “I’ll have one, too.”
The third one says, “I’ll have a pint of plasma.”
The bartender says, “So, that’ll be two Bloods and a Blood Lite?”
