Fromage, Redux! Beer and Cheese, v.2.0

We shall further explore the mystique, the allure, the celebration and the beauty that is craft beer and cheese pairings.

Prepare your palates for Beer and Cheese v. 2.0! We will be enjoying five cheese tastings, painstakingly chosen to pair delightfully with five beer samples at the Shamrock Pub.

Beer can complement and contrast cheese in ways that wine could only dream of, and with such a wide variety of each, we’ll be sure to have at least one pairing that makes your palate sing! Cheese will again come from the fabulous Artisan Cheese Company.

We will need a solid head-count for this event, as the cheese will be purchased in advance, so please confirm your attendance by sending your $16 to via paypal, so Kat can secure the fromage! RSVP and payment are needed BY MAY 13.

Chicago Barley's Angels

Fundraiser at Trellis with Pink Boots Society Collaboration

bas_chiChicago Barley’s Angels fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research and Outreach

On Wednesday April 16, starting at 6p.m., Trellis in Lincoln Park will pour Tyranena Citra Session Pale Ale, a beer brewed in collaboration with the Pink Boots Society.Tyranena brewer Andrea McHenry will be on hand.  All proceeds from the beer will go to the Chicago chapter of a breast cancer research and outreach foundation. (Feel free to email with questions! I am happy to let you know who we are donating to, but they preferred to be left off of any marketing materials.)

The Citra Session Pale Ale was based on a recipe given to the women brewer members of the Pink Boots Society, for use on a mass brew day on International Women’s Day. The resulting beer is a bright, hoppy, and clean pale, which was dry hopped by amarillo and citra hops. Tyranana Brewer Andrea McHenry will be there, ready to tell you all about the process, and to raise a pint.

Chief Blackhawk Porter will also grace the taps tonight, and house cocktail queen, Miranda Breedlove will be behind the stick. The food at Trellis is also outstanding, featuring oysters, pizzas, and contemporary tweaks on American standards.

This event is open to the public, so please bring anyone who wants to drink great beer for a good cause. We hope to see you there!

  • When: Wednesday 4/16/14 at 6pm
  • Where: Trellis in Lincoln Park [map]
Trellis is located at 2426 N. Racine in Chicago.
