Eight Female Movers & Shakers Will Discuss The Business of Brewing on September 17th from 6pm to 9 p.m.

Tickets – $30 (plus tax)

WomenInBeerVersion4The beer business has long been a male dominated culture, but more women are leading the charge in this exploding industry as the love for craft beer continues to soar in the U.S. On Thursday, September 17th, some of Minnesota’s most influential women in brewing will discuss the state of the industry for females, both nationally and locally, as part of a spirited panel discussion at The Herkimer Pub and Brewery in Minneapolis.
These trailblazers will share their insights into how they broke into a predominately “boys only” club; the challenges they face; whether there’s a glass ceiling and the best ways to break through it. Guests will get a better appreciation of the region’s network of beer women and their important role in the field.

Panelists include:
Deb Loch: Brewer/owner, Urban Growler, St. Paul — The first exclusively female-owned brewery in MN.
Laura Mullen: Co-owner, Bent Paddle Brewing Co., Duluth, and former Coordinator, MN Craft Brewers Guild.
Kelsi Moffitt: Operations Director, Better Beer Society, Minneapolis, and Co-Leader of Barley’s Angels MN.
Tara Alcure: Upper Midwest Regional Sales Manager, Green Flash Brewing (San Diego) and Co-founder of the Pink Boots Society MN.
Jacquie Berglund: Founder and CEO, Finnegans Beer, Minneapolis —The first brewery in the world to donate 100% of their profits towards ending hunger.
Amanda Buhman: Events Coordinator, One Simple Plan, MN Craft Brewers Guild.
Rachel Anderson: Co-founder & Director of Marketing, Indeed Brewing Company, Minneapolis
Rita Skamser-O’Neil: General Manager & Cicerone Certified Beer Server, The Herkimer Pub and Brewery, Minneapolis
The panel will be moderated by East Coast-based journalist Tara Nurin. Tara is a nationally published food & travel writer, women-in-beer columnist, BJCP judge and Certified Beer Server. The former TV reporter also co-hosts a TV beer show and is an educator specializing in beer-and-chocolate pairings. She runs New Jersey’s Barley’s Angels chapter and volunteers as historian for the Pink Boots Society.
The panel coincides with a kick-off celebration for the launch of a new Minnesota chapter of the Pink Boots Society. The mission of PBS is to empower women beer professionals to advance their careers in the beer industry by providing educational workshops and scholarships. Twenty percent of tickets sales will benefit the Pink Boots Society’s Scholarship fund. Volunteers are being provided by Barley’s Angels MN.
Tickets cost $30 plus tax and will include beer samples and passed hors d’oeuvres.  http://www.theherkimer.com/women-in-brewing/

Horse Thief Hollow Beer Dinner

Barley’s Angels Chicago is excited to head to Horse Thief Hollow in Beverly on Thursday, September 17 for a three course beer dinner! From the award-winning brews to the Southern-inspired food made from scratch, we are in for a great evening of fun, education and, of course, delicious beers.

We know this is a challenging location to get to for Northsiders, so we have also booked a bus that will leave from The Bar on Buena at 6 p.m. to arrive at the Beverly neighborhood brewery for the 7 p.m. dinner. Transportation will also be provided back to The Bar on Buena after the event (depart Horse Thief around 9 p.m.) The bus will be BYOB—bring your favorite brew to share with the crew (or to keep for yourself, whatever you prefer!)

For those who prefer to take care of their own transportation, a separate ticket price is offered that doesn’t include the price of the bus.

TICKETS: $50 with transportation, $30 without transportation.
