Barley’s Angels encourages craft beer interest and education among women through their monthly events and partnerships with local craft beer establishments. The Harvest Beer Dinner is a unique event for the organization, as they are welcoming men to join in on the fun. Chapter founder Ariane Criger is enthusiastic to share the mission of the group with a larger audience.  “I am so excited about this event because it will be more than just a meal – it will be an experience that allows our guests to indulge in amazing Iowa food and beer, while learning more about pairings and beer styles. We encourage both women and men to join us for this event to help celebrate and enjoy some of Iowa’s greatest offerings.”

###

Barley’s Angels – Greater Des Moines is a local chapter of a global organization. The purpose of the group is to encourage education and interest in beer among women, to advance the female craft beer consumer and to work with craft-beer focused establishements to create a comfortable environment for female consumers. Events are held monthly at craft beer-friendly establishments throughout the Des Moines metro area.

HoQ Restaurant is a sustainable, farm-to-table restaurant located in the historic East Village of Des Moines. Their menu evolves almost daily and exists to showcase the finest of Iowa ingredients while supporting local farmers. They believe the best meals begin with the best ingredients and that’s why approximately 90% of their ingredients come from local farms.

Peace Tree Brewing Company is dedicated to brewing handcrafted, full-flavored beers with a great attention to quality. Located in Knoxville, IA, they distribute across the state of Iowa, as well as Nebraska, Kansas and Minnesota. Peace Tree was awarded a Gold medal for their Belgian-Style Blonde Ale, Blonde Fatale, at the 2014 World Beer Cup®, one of the largest commercial beer competitions in the world.

Women’s Craft Beer Appreciation Group of Summit County

There is a new women’s group in Summit County – the Breck Beer Betties! We will be having our first meeting this month and need to get the word out! We are a local chapter of Barley’s Angels, and the first of our kind in Summit County. Our mission is to expand the appreciation and understanding of craft beer among women by bringing them together with craft beer professionals to explore craft beer.

Our first meeting is at Kenosha Steakhouse 301 S. Main St. in Breckenridge on Wednesday October 15th age. This first meeting ties in with Kenosha’s Eat-Drink-Give campaign and a portion of each ticket sold will be donated to the Advocates for Victims of Assault. The ticket cost is $15 and will include a flight of five craft beers, various appetizers (donated by Kenosha) and a contribution to AVA. We ask that ladies RSVP to our email address – breckbeerbetties@gmail.com or message us on our Facebook page – www.facebook.com/breckbeerbetties as tickets are limited.

Many women are interested in craft beer and knowing more about it. This group is an opportunity for women to gather together to learn about craft beer in a fun and relaxed atmosphere in the company of other women. Kristin has been kicking around the idea of starting this chapter for a couple of years and decided now was the time! Colorado is home to 175 craft breweries and is ranked as 4th breweries (Brewers Association). Summit County has several breweries and many more bars and restaurants specializing in craft brews, thus a perfect location for Breck Beer Betties!

About Hop Valley Brewing Company:

What began in 2009 as a new brewery and restaurant run by four local guys who love beer and wanted to share it with the world has become an icon of Oregon-brewed craft goodness.

Taking its name from the bygone days of home turf Lane County as the epicenter of the hops growing industry, Hop Valley Brewing Company crafts the highest-quality ales, lagers, pilsners, porters, reds and ciders you’ll find anywhere. From 1,000 barrels in 2009 to more than 12,000 barrels today, thirsty imbibers heartily agree.
