BiXi-flightJoin Chicago Barley’s Angels at Logan Square’s hottest new brewery and restaurant BiXi, the Chinese-inspired brewpub from the owner of Owen & Engine. Monday, November 12 at 6:30 pm, BiXi’s owner and chef Bo Fowler will create a 3-course family-style pairing event for us (omnivore and herbivore pairings available) in the lush 2515 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago IL digs. Learn about this culinary-inspired brewery, tour the brewhouse and finish the night with a full pour of your new favorite beer.

Tickets are $33 each and include a three-course food and beer pairing and tour. Choose an herbivore or omnivore option at checkout.

Rogue's Chef Matthew McCalmont has planned a wondrous journey of surf, turf, and orchard flavors for Barley's Angels return to where it all began. Chef Matthew will guide us in a friendly casual setting where we will discuss the simple yet classic techniques he uses to prepare dishes with Rogue beer, mead, and cider.

Women are invited to join us at Rogue Distillery & Public House for this social gathering and salon style conversation. We've given Chef complete creative license and this is what he's serving:

  • Halibut Ceviche made and paired with Issaquah Brewhouse's White Frog
  • Smoked Salmon Stuffed Mushrooms (mini Portabellas) Made and paired with Morimoto Imperial Pilsner
  • Ancho/Cayenne/Coffee rubbed flank steak. Marinated in and paired with Rogue Farms Fresh Roast
  • Marionberry-Basil Sorbet Made with Rogue Farms 19 Original Colonies Mead. Paired with Rogue Fruit Salad Cider

Chef Matthew McCalmont, Rogue AlesChef Matthew McCalmont began having fun with food at age 12 when friends called him Chef-Boy-R-Matty. In the course of his career he apprentice with Master Chef Robert "Bob" Murray, and has served as Executive Chef at the Marriott. Currently Chef Matthew crafts culinary specialties for Rogue Ales. Chef lives in Portland Oregon with his wife and son.

Falling Sky is treating us to a brewery tour, a four beer sampler, and an amazing spread of appetizers that include: blistered green beans & tomatoes with hazelnuts & lemon vinaigrette, pastrami cheese fries & plain cheese fries, and pickled veggie plates, warmed pretzel sticks with beer mustard!

Join the Baltimore Beer Babes in celebrating American Craft Beer Week on Monday, May 11th from 6:30 – 8:30PM at The Brewer’s Art in Baltimore (1106 N. Charles St.). We will feature Belgian inspired beer styles brewed from one of the original craft breweries in Baltimore. Beers will be paired with delicious offerings from their new spring menu. One of the brewers will be on hand and we will discuss their unique American twist on, as well as their respect of tradition for Belgian beer styles and why these beers pair so well with such a range of foods. It’s Girls Scout Cookie Time in Chicago! You know you love them and you love beer, so…let’s put them together! Barley’s Angels Chicago is excited to announce its March meeting—Girl Scout Cookie & Beer Pairing at Fountainhead! The event will take place on Monday, March 23 from 7-9 p.m. Chef Cleetus Friedman of Fountainhead will take everyone’s favorite Girl Scout cookies (think Thin Mints, Samoas & Do-Si-Dos!!) and create savory & sweet one-bites for everyone to enjoy alongside a perfectly paired brew. Chef Cleetus will walk us through the tasting and, of course, there will be time to mix, mingle & chat about the delicious pairings.

A portion of the ticket price will benefit the Girl Scouts of the Greater Chicago area!

This is a gathering of women who share craft beer with women both professionally and as consumers. We will explore each angle of beer, food, and events, in practical and meaningful ways that will allow you to share still more of the versatile Craft Brew with women around you.

We’ll launch our national partnership with Green Flash Brewing Co. raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research as part of the Treasure Chest program. We’ll have the very special limited edition beer – a barrel aged Saison with plum with much fanfare and schwag.

Meet chef and personality The Beeroness (aka Jackie Dodd) as she demonstrates cooking with craft beer. The Beeroness passion for cooking with craft beer has propelled her into the world of celebrity chefs and authors.

Take the Palette Journey with Christine Jump where pairing is more than chocolate and beer. Experience the surprising way that flavors are affected by different beer styles – make your pairings even more powerful.

Glean insights into establishing lasting relationships with the press by understanding how they tick and what they need with publisher Gail Oberst’s guidance.

Glassware matters – really, experience the difference as Nick Mallory reveals the Alchemy of Glassware and the craft beer flavor experience.

Pam McGee, veteran festival and events producer for Rogue Ales gets up close and personal discussing the tricks to making beery events that inspire community,  are memorable and run smoothly.

It’s our last Denver meeting before tickets go on sale for the Great American Beer Festival (GABF). At this event, try a pairing of a Denver Beer Company brew with Olomomo nuts and get the inside scoop on GABF. The Great American Beer Festival has grown into one of the largest craft beer events in the country. Tickets go on sale in July, and we’ve developed this panel so that experienced event attendees and newbees can share stories that may help them acquire tickets or volunteer.

Speakers include:

  • The beer judge: Master Beer Judge Don Blake
  • The producer: Bradley Latham, Senior Events Manager at the Brewer’s Association (will discuss producing the event and volunteering)
  • The brewer: Staff from Denver Beer Company

We shall further explore the mystique, the allure, the celebration and the beauty that is craft beer and cheese pairings.

Prepare your palates for Beer and Cheese v. 2.0! We will be enjoying five cheese tastings, painstakingly chosen to pair delightfully with five beer samples at the Shamrock Pub.

Beer can complement and contrast cheese in ways that wine could only dream of, and with such a wide variety of each, we’ll be sure to have at least one pairing that makes your palate sing! Cheese will again come from the fabulous Artisan Cheese Company.

We will need a solid head-count for this event, as the cheese will be purchased in advance, so please confirm your attendance by sending your $16 to thryn.kat@gmail.com via paypal, so Kat can secure the fromage! RSVP and payment are needed BY MAY 13.
