Rogue Harvest Dinner

The hops have been picked, stripped, sorted, kilned, cooled and baled.
The pumpkins have been harvested, chopped, and roasted in pizza ovens.
The jalapenos have been hand-picked and smoked.
The barley has been reaped, threshed and winnowed.
The marionberries have been trained and the honeybees have hunkered down.

Return to the original location of the very first Barley’s Angels gathering in 2011 and celebrate the Rogue Farms Harvest with us! Eat and drink your way through this year’s bounty, learning about each beer and spirit Rogue grew for each course.

Rogue Brewmaster John Maier selected Yaquina hops from the harvest at Rogue Farms for this year’s Wet Hop Ale, and the bright hop flavor really shines through. Enjoy the freshest possible tastes of Oregon terroir, from both land and sea with this pairing.

Smoked Salmon Stuffed Mushroom
Paired with Pumpkin Patch Ale

Per Mother Nature, our pumpkins ripened early with the summer heat wave, so we hand-picked them, drove 77 miles to the brewery, where we chopped, roasted, and brewed them to make our Pumpkin Patch Ale slightly ahead of schedule. Celebrate the harvest and enjoy the flavors of fall from foragers, fermenters and fishermen.

Grow ’em and smoke ’em if you got ’em! We grow and smoke our own Chipotle peppers to add a little kick to our Chipotle Ale and Whiskey, which will bring a little heat to this pairing. Who says you can’t grow jalapenos in Oregon? Dare. Risk. Dream.

We grow our own marionberries next to our 7,140,289 honeybees that provide our honey; a taste of the sweet side of the Wigrich Appellation terroir.

Rogue's Chef Matthew McCalmont has planned a wondrous journey of surf, turf, and orchard flavors for Barley's Angels return to where it all began. Chef Matthew will guide us in a friendly casual setting where we will discuss the simple yet classic techniques he uses to prepare dishes with Rogue beer, mead, and cider.

Women are invited to join us at Rogue Distillery & Public House for this social gathering and salon style conversation. We've given Chef complete creative license and this is what he's serving:

  • Halibut Ceviche made and paired with Issaquah Brewhouse's White Frog
  • Smoked Salmon Stuffed Mushrooms (mini Portabellas) Made and paired with Morimoto Imperial Pilsner
  • Ancho/Cayenne/Coffee rubbed flank steak. Marinated in and paired with Rogue Farms Fresh Roast
  • Marionberry-Basil Sorbet Made with Rogue Farms 19 Original Colonies Mead. Paired with Rogue Fruit Salad Cider

Chef Matthew McCalmont, Rogue AlesChef Matthew McCalmont began having fun with food at age 12 when friends called him Chef-Boy-R-Matty. In the course of his career he apprentice with Master Chef Robert "Bob" Murray, and has served as Executive Chef at the Marriott. Currently Chef Matthew crafts culinary specialties for Rogue Ales. Chef lives in Portland Oregon with his wife and son.

We’ll launch our national partnership with Green Flash Brewing Co. raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research as part of the Treasure Chest program. We’ll have the very special limited edition beer – a barrel aged Saison with plum with much fanfare and schwag.

Meet chef and personality The Beeroness (aka Jackie Dodd) as she demonstrates cooking with craft beer. The Beeroness passion for cooking with craft beer has propelled her into the world of celebrity chefs and authors.

Take the Palette Journey with Christine Jump where pairing is more than chocolate and beer. Experience the surprising way that flavors are affected by different beer styles – make your pairings even more powerful.

Glean insights into establishing lasting relationships with the press by understanding how they tick and what they need with publisher Gail Oberst’s guidance.

Glassware matters – really, experience the difference as Nick Mallory reveals the Alchemy of Glassware and the craft beer flavor experience.

Pam McGee, veteran festival and events producer for Rogue Ales gets up close and personal discussing the tricks to making beery events that inspire community,  are memorable and run smoothly.

Green Dragon Brew Crew releases much anticipated brews with great fanfare and fun at Green Dragon Bistro and Brew Pub. The next brew to hit the tap is the Collaboration Ale brewed by Barley’s Angels Director Christine Jump and Green Dragon Brewer Vanessa Morea.

Let’s show the boys how women do craft beer – join us for the hoopla and a pint of Barley’s Dragon Imperial Amber Ale!

Green Dragon Brewer Vanessa Morea has invited Barley’s Angels to brew with her Saturday, November 23rd.

Vanessa is also a Barley’s Angel member and will begin the brew day at 11 am. We’ll be brewing for 6-8 hours, but you don’t have to be there the whole time. Just let us know what times you plan to participate in your RSVP.
